Alexandria worked with Kim Johnson on social media at Wild Basin over the summer of 2017. Currently, she is back at Wild Basin to work on the trails with Aaron Haynes. She is taking this second opportunity at the preserve to experience the environmental management side in order to determine if she will apply for park ranger jobs after graduation in December. She feels it will be most beneficial to be proficient in tasks in all different aspects of the preserve to truly understand where her skills are the most valuable.
This semester, she has also assisted with guided hikes for high school students to provide environmental education and answer questions about the college process. She has also been excited to continue working on the butterfly garden that she helped to plan and plant last summer.
"It has been really interesting to see Wild Basin through different processes that are essential to keep the preserve efficient and fun for the community! I've also been enjoying the idea of teaching grade school students how to understand and appreciate the natural world around them." -Alexandria
