Wild Basin is happy to welcome new Artist in Resident for the fall 2019 year, Precious Parker! Parker, is a visual artist, storyteller, and photography major at St. Edward’s University. As a Liberian-American artist, she combines multiple perspectives to explore the relational connection between subject and space with subtle elements of emotion. Using common people, she captures the subtle details of everyday life and explores issues such as person-hood, identity, and vulnerability. Recent works include self-portraits to capture the issues of mental health and pressures of womanhood and daughter-hood. During her residency at Wild Basin, Parker hopes to inspire others to keep the conversation going, raising awareness about conserving wildlife and reawakening the visitor's connection to nature.
